Lindsey Gr-Amnesty, RINO Extraordinaire.

I wish someone would tell me why this character should have a single Republican member of Congress listen to him, much less be influenced by a single word emanating from his smarmy mouth. In his latest essay in treacherous gum beating he’s let it be known that he’ll play deal maker on Guantanamo Bay.

Lindsey Graham

On Sunday, this cretin actually had the chutzpah to tell the White House that he would work to convince Republicans to ‘go along with closing Guantanamo Bay’, if the President reverses his intention of trying high-profile terrorists on continental U.S. soil.

Graham, ever anxious to ingratiate himself with the administration and bolster his RINO credentials, came in a little late on this one though, since public rage over the proposed trials has all but forced Obama to go back to Guantanamo and military tribunals… aside from the fact that in all likelihood he would be unable to garner support from the Republican membership, other than perhaps a few like-minded RINOs.

Lindsey Graham is the poster child for everything that is anathema to Conservative Republicans and most Independents as well. With an oily, slithering ‘let’s make a deal’ attitude with very little principled moral compass behind him, Graham has made a career thumbing his nose at his Conservative brethren. Time after time ingratiating himself with liberals and advancing their agenda in the face of opposition from his ‘own’ party, continually aligning himself with other liberal (moderate) elements in the Republican party and using the ‘mantle’ of Republican for political cover. So much so that he has been censured by the Conservative-loyal Republican party in his own home state, “for many of the positions he has taken that do not represent the people of South Carolina”.

Among the more spectacular buffoonery Graham has pulled was to align himself with the treasonous John (Swiftboat) Kerry, to push for the economy and back-breaking Cap and Trade legislation so sought after by the leftist Obama administration. Graham is another one who has bought into the fakery and faux secular religion of global warming / climate change.

Graham is also remembered for memberships in both the gang of ten and the gang of fourteen with that great thumb-in-the-eye RINO John McCain, thwarting the aims of their own party leadership time after time and giving victory to opponents. Does anybody remember Graham supporting TARP? I do. His pro illegal alien stance is also another in his long list of perfidy. The party can do nothing finer than to isolate this snake oil vendor, and all like him, until they can be voted out of office.

The vote on health care in the House is just around the corner. It’s time to make our displeasure with the authoritarian aims of the White House and the Democrat House felt in no uncertain terms again. It seems like this last year has been a progression from one desperate struggle to another and it isn’t over yet. Not by a long shot. Stand up and be heard.

Rick Boucher (D-VA) Is Feeling the Heat

How Long Can a Pelosi Puppet Fool His Constituents?

Coming into this election cycle, Rick Boucher was the safest of Democrats. Despite his district’s strong Republican lean, he has been re-elected comfortably in recent years. His district did not even earn a mention on Charlie Cook’s list of races to watch until September, when he first listed it as ‘Likely Democratic.’

It’s become clear recently however, that Rick Boucher is in trouble. His liberal voting record is out-of-touch with his conservative district - particularly on the key issue of Cap-and-Trade. And now he’s having trouble dodging responsibility for a vote that would kill the coal industry in his district:

The lesser of two evils is how Congressman Rick Boucher described cap and trade legislation.

Boucher said the Supreme Court’s ruled in 2007 that green house gases were pollutants and had to be regulated. He said that meant the Environmental Protection Agency would regulate the gases or congress would have to write the regulations.

He said the regulations did not originate with the current president and denied that Obama hated coal or intended to regulate coal out of business. Boucher said the regulation drafted by Congress was not perfect but did protect the coal industry.

He said voting no, as West Virginia Congressman Nick Joe Rahall, did would not have been serving his district. “I could have voted no and that would have taken me out of the picture when it came to negotiating what was in the legislation.

Well, it’s settled. Robin Carnahan supports the largest tax increase in history.

Robin hearts Cap-and-Tax and she's no longer trying to hide it.

The story begins in April, 2009, when the “League of Conservation Voters” began a $750K campaign to slam Rep. Roy Blunt for his vote against the “Cap and Trade” (or “Cap and Tax”) bill, who repeatedly refers to it by its euphemistic official smokescreen/name: “American Clean Energy & Security Act,” in an attempt to convince Missourians that Blunt is somehow trying to deny jobs in Missouri.  The LCV claims that this vote is somehow a sign that Blunt is beholden to “Big Oil”.   But it is actually a sign that Rep. Blunt is closely aligned with Missourians who oppose big government schemes that raise our taxes.

What is curious about the LCV campaign is that it is being shown around the entire state, rather than just in Rep. Blunt’s district, despite claims from the LCV that this is simply an effort to inform Blunt’s constituents of his position and “hold him responsible”.  If that be the case, then why show the ad in St. Louis, which is many miles from Blunt’s district?  The truth is obvious - the LCV campaign and the subsequent hit campaign from the VoteVets group are anti-Blunt Senate campaign ads bankrolled by Robin Carnahan supporters. 24thState.com documents the situation quite nicely.

And now it appears that Ms. Carnahan has decided to put it out in the open and forget about hiding her connections to the League of Conservation Voters.  Last Thursday night, Carnahan traveled to the Left Coast to attend a Seattle fundraiser sponsored by none other than the LCV.  (According to news accounts, a whopping fifty donors attended the event.)

Obama Presidency – Wherefore Art Thou?

We’ve been pretty harsh on our young President. We’ve taken him to task on virtually every word and every item of his agenda… with good reason. Those of us who managed not to be mesmerized by the glitzy rock concert/camp meeting atmosphere that surrounded the unlikely, albeit meteoric, rise of this young first term senator from Illinois were in turn bemused and then alarmed.

We had been looking into what young Mr. Obama had been doing, where he had been and what he had been saying. Critics rightly pointed out that his resume was as thin as a layer of shellac and that the presidency didn’t lend itself to on-the-job training. We Conservatives emphasized that he had no executive experience at all. We were shouted down, called racist rednecks and all of the other labels that the left uses to marginalize opposition opinions. I’ve enumerated all of the reasons Obama won and McCain lost in detail. I’ve also described the state of the electorate, shocked into inaction over the advent of the recession and the BLITZKRIEG of the unholy alliance between Democrat politicians scrambling to cover their dirty tracks behind the banking and sub-prime mortgage crash and their allies and lapdogs of the statist ‘mainstream’ media.

Fast forward to today… Obama has been solidly resisted on everything he has attempted thus far. The American people rose up and said HELL NO! What looked like a cakewalk for the ‘prancing pony’ less than a year ago has become a nightmarish quagmire, reducing the once supremely arrogant Obama and the Democrat majority to confusion and disarray.

Modeling his statist government and it’s grand schemes on European socialism was his fatal flaw. The European states do not have the TRADITIONS of freedom we so cherish. Americans believe strongly enough in our freedoms to send our best and brightest to fight, bleed and die on every continent on Earth. Many countries owe their very existence to us. Once America recognized that Obama’s end game was and is nothing more than a soft tyranny the game was up.

It’s not over. Not nearly so. The Democrat sleazy trick department goes on unabated. On February 25, 2010, Obama will hold his bi-partisan summit on health care. He has ‘commanded’ that the Republicans bring their ideas to ‘improve’ health care. This is an easy one. We should have one stand and one stand only… SCRAP IT AND START OVER! By the way, any Republican that buys into this crap should be removed from office… PERIOD. Democrats may still try the so-called nuclear option though the political consequences could be dramatic.

The following members of Congress were invited to the event:
Senators:
Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., Majority Leader
Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Republican Leader
Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., Majority Whip
Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., Republican Whip
Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., Chairman of the Finance Committee
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, Ranking Member of the Finance Committee
Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee
Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., Ranking Member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee
Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., Member of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee
Representatives:
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Speaker of the House
Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., Majority Leader
Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, Republican Leader
Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., Majority Whip
Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., Republican Whip
Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee
Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Committee
Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee
Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, Ranking Member of the Energy and Commerce Committee
Rep. George Miller, D-Calif., Chairman of the Education and Labor Committee
Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., Ranking Member of the Education and Labor Committee
Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., Chair Emeritus of the Energy and Commerce Committee

Look for Obama to try to enact portions of, or all of, health care by Presidential fiat (executive order) if he doesn’t get his way. He would have to know that it would effectively doom his presidency. Is he that much of an ideologue? I guess we’ll find out. Much the same way, the EPA may try to enact cap and trade by regulatory order. Which is reason enough to get rid of this massive unelected bureaucratic empire that is bent on destroying American business and our way of life.
Don’t take your eyes off of these people for a split second.

NY Times IPCC Alibi Falls Flat

Elisabeth Rosenthal Received No Payment When You Bought The New York Times This Morning

One and a half cheers to the NY Times for the article “Skeptics Find Fault With U.N. Climate Panel,” which admits to some of the scientific and ethical problems facing the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and IPCC head Rajendra Pachauri. But the Times being the Times, while it lays out some of the damning facts, it omits key damaging details (especially regarding the egregiously amateurish nature of the IPCC’s errors regarding the Himalayan glaciers) and otherwise spends the rest of the article trying to explain away Dr. Pachauri’s problems, with hilarious results.

Phishing for Carbon Credits

If you invent a new currency, don’t be surprised when the scammers and counterfeiters show up. Especially when your currency is itself a scam.

Hackers Steal Millions in Carbon Credits

The hackers launched a targeted phishing attack against employees of numerous companies in Europe, New Zealand and Japan, which appeared to come from the German Emissions Trading Authority. The workers were told that their companies needed to re-register their accounts with the Authority, where carbon credits and transactions are recorded.

Obudget? Oh, Brother! Hold On To Your Wallets – Job Destroyer Inc.

I’m running out of superlatives again. It’s getting to be a barometer of NATIONAL LUNACY, as played out by the White House and the Congressional Clown College. While Obama is taxing the exact segment of the population where job growth is created, just about guaranteeing negative job growth in the private sector, the House Madam, Nancy Pelosi, is spending millions of taxpayer dollars in travel, food and booze for herself, her family and political cronies, while the country is scrambling to find work and scrabbling to survive. The corruption in this government is astounding and DISGUSTING.

Barack Obama announced the budget for 2010 today and it’s still burning holes through the floor…THREE POINT EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS!! This dude is DELUSIONAL. Or as is beginning to become more likely and more apparent, this man is purposely and purposefully driving this country to ruin so that he and his extremist party may profit from the resulting confusion and ruin. The deficit for 2009 was fully 1.413 TRILLION dollars, the highest since World War Two. But hold on to your wallets and purses ladies and gents, I’m not finished yet. The federal budget deficit for this year, with the highly accomplished organizer at the helm, is ONE POINT FIVE FIVE SIX TRILLION FRESHLY MINTED DOLLARS. But all is not lost, take heart because our intrepid budget-cutting leader has identified TWENTY BILLION dollars he will fearlessly slash.

Barack Obama speaks about his budget for fiscal year 2011.

Meanwhile, his plans for your economic misery for 2011 encompass a modest budget of THREE POINT EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS.
Since the Obama administration ‘expects’ a 2011 budget shortfall of ONE POINT SIX TRILLION DOLLARS, expect that to be a lot closer to two trillion.
By the way, the President has had the White House inform Senator John Kerry that the 2011 budget ‘assumes’ income from the controversial climate policy approach (cap and trade) which would appear to be dead on arrival given the catastrophic failure of the attempted theft of 1/6 of our economy through the single payer heath care bill. It looks like we can expect them to try and SNEAK all or parts of the detestable cap and tax bill past us. But sneaking and lying are a strong part of the Kerry resume. We can take absolutely nothing for granted with this bunch… not for a moment… not for a split second.

While the Republicans are putting up their 10 point program we have to remember and remind them that this is not a Republican revolution… this is not a Tea Party revolution… it is a CONSERVATIVE Republican revolution. It’s a Conservative revolution. It’s an Independent revolution. It’s a revolution of loyal, patriotic Americans who are sick and tired of having our money stolen, our freedoms abridged and taken and our Constitution violated. WE ARE FIGHTING MAD! But we have to remember… we have this year to get it right. This year there can be no RINOs, there can be no accommodation with evil. We have to put up a strong united front. The old style Republican party insider stuff won’t play any more. It’s your party, take it back.

If The Economy Grew, Why Aren’t The Workers Out Working?

I congratulate everyone who plays a vital role in determining the health of the US economy. Preliminary indications suggest that US GDP grew at an annualized rate of 5.7% in Q409. After accounting for the Barack Obama exaggeration functional transform, 60% of this number is still a solid 3.5%. .

If a GOP President were in office, I’d be beating chest and calling out all the playa-haters. Growth like that is enough to get my TSP and my 429 plans to stop resembling emaciated victims of a famine. Three more quarters of this and Osauma Bin Ladin will have to declare jihad against us all over again because of our contributions to anthropogenic Global Warming. (HT: Vladamir@Redstate)

So how come nobody has created new jobs? In fact, lots of people are losing them. When Wal-Mart decides that their payroll needs to be cut, the economic street level reality is not matching the official statistics churned out by the maundering mediocrities of the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The reason no one is hiring anybody is that they have no clue what rules they will operate under four years hence. Four factors potentially drive this uncertainty. These factors are environmental policy, healthcare regulation, stimulus plan format and corporate and business tax rates. Until the decisions that drive these potentially major economic influence factors have been made, the unemployment rate will stay unusually high, and more tellingly, the average American work hours available per week will remain pegged at 30 hours out of a possible 40.

Environmental policy remains subject to question. Senator Kerry still tells us that the planet hangs in the balance. He offered the following sentiments about the current state of America’s environment.

“You know if the Tea Party folks can go out there and get angry because they think their taxes are too high, for God’s sake, a lot of citizens ought to get angry about the fact that they’re being killed and our planet is being injured by what’s happening on a daily basis by the way we provide our power and our fuel and the old practices we have. That’s something worth getting angry about.” (HT: Climate Change Fraud)

However, there are also serious issues with how Senator Kerry and other backers of CO2 output regulation have arrived at their conclusions. Questions of whether this science is truly settled include doubts about IPCC reports on impacts of water vapor on temperature change, the predominance of forest fires in rain forests, and numerous others that my three constant readers wouldn’t ant to chase after links to.

While Congress has yet to pass the sweeping Cap and Trade bill that Senator Kerry would like to see adopted, other government organizations have increased executive regulation with what some see as dubious Constitutional and statutory authority. Even in the absence of scientific certainty that Global Warming is occurring, the SEC still moved to order US corporations to disclose climate risks in their SEC filings. The EPA has ruled that CO2 constitutes a toxic atmospheric pollutant. Whether this requires them to develop synchronicity with the English 80’s Pop Group The Police and monitor Every Breath You Take, remains unsettled.

The House has passed a healthcare bill, the Senate has passed a healthcare bill, the President wants some unified bill to emerge from Congress. The American people and the private sector firms that many of them work for despise all current forms of this legislation.

The manner in which the bill was rammed through the Senate was so overtly hostile to the GOP minority that even Senator Olympia Snowe doesn’t want to work with Senate Majority Leader Reid on this issue ever again. The election of Scott Brown, if the Democrats ever choose to permit his seating, makes filibustering a possibility. The impacts of this bill could double what the average worker pays for health insurance and will collect taxation for four years before the first dollar of actual benefits gets paid out.

The President invested much of his STFU Address this week on pushing Stimulus II. Questions abound on how large this bill will be, how it will be allocated and how much of the credit market will be sponged up by US Treasury Bond auctions to pay for this plan’s largesse. Each of these things impacts what will happen at businesses across America.

Because of this uncertainty, questions abound. Will they or won’t they get tax credits? How must they modify their behavior to be considered “good.”? How much will private firms have to pay in interest to borrow, if the float of Treasury Bonds at market grows even larger than it is today?

Finally, the legislatures in Washington face the looming expiration of the Bush tax cuts. This one really is at least partially ALL BUSH’S FAULT®. Should the rates be allowed to default under current statute, capital gains, businesses and upper middle class taxes will all appreciably increase. Investors, businesses and wealthy suburbanite consumers can be predictably expected to reduce consumption.

That can cut in two ways. They can buy it all now and make hay while the sun shines. This could work as accidental stimulus. People could eat, drink and be merry today and really not care what the IRS thinks of their hangover tomorrow. Particularly if they can write some of it off as a deduction. Or, they could keep consumption level and then drop it off the cliff when their disposable income gets dispensed with by Uncle Sam.

Thus, the GDP news is good, but the employment possibilities remain stagnant. They remain stagnant because the environment remains uncertain. This makes buying labor too risky an expenditure. Therefore, the GDP grows well, but the labor market remains uncertain until Washington, DC makes a lot of decisions. Congress must lead, follow or watch much of America’s workforce continue to sit on their cans.

Preview of the State of the Union

After riding into Washington with promises of hope and change and overwhelming public support, one year later President Obama is sitting in a much different position.  He has yet to pass one of his major agenda items, including health care and cap-and-trade, and his approval rating has dropped below 47% according to the latest Rasmussen poll.

In his first State of the Union address this evening, the president has the opportunity to change his tune a bit.

Although the full text of the speech has not been released, the White House has stated that the president plans to focus his speech on the economy – not his stalled health care bill.  There has been mention that he will propose a three-year freeze on all discretionary, non-defense spending.  I am encouraged by president’s change of heart – during the election he stated that spending freezes sound good but don’t actually work.  However, I hope he is actually serious about this.  It has also been announced that he will request a 6.2% increase in education spending during the speech, all the while continuing to support the Senate’s $80 billion jobs bill and their $1.9 trillion debt limit increase proposal.

The election in Massachusetts last week should have served as a wake up call for my colleagues on the other side of the aisle that their current agenda of dramatically expanding the size and scope of the federal government that require unprecedented levels of spending and borrowing is simply not what the American people want.  Rather, we need to get back to focusing on job creation, improving our economy, and providing tax relief for the American people.

I encourage everyone to tune in tonight at 8:00pm central and hear what the president has to say – it should be an interesting watch.

Meet Mark Kirk

Take a moment to meet Mark Kirk, candidate for U.S. Senate in Illinois.

Mark Kirk…

For this stellar performance as a liberal RINO, Representative Mark Kirk has earned a score of 48 (out of 100) from the American Conservative Union. Looking at it from another angle, Kirk is 52% liberal.

In a state where conservatives outnumber liberals by 12 percentage points, I struggle to understand why establishment Republicans like John McCain have chosen to put their thumbs on the scale for Mark Kirk’s candidacy before the GOP primary.

Have they learned nothing from the fine example set by Arlen Specter? Have they learned nothing from the Dede Scozzafava debacle?

Cap’n Trade Kirk must be stopped…but we only have seven days! The GOP senate primary is on February 2nd. Fortunately there’s a solid conservative for whom we can rally: Patrick Hughes.

Hughes is the most serious conservative candidate running against Mark Kirk:

If conservatives come out early next week in an organized fashion, throw a pile of targeted money into Illinois, and rapidly drive up Pat Hughes’ name identification, the polling in Illinois suggests Hughes will win.

He is not polling well against Kirk right now, but then he has significantly lower name identification. All the polling suggests Kirk’s support is very weak and once people find out about Hughes, they break overwhelmingly for Hughes.
